Born and raised in Adelaide, Georgina has studied fine and commercial art. From a very early age she has been drawing and making things. Her entire spare time at school was spent in the art room creating. Georgina feels that her earliest lesson from art school days was to “paint and draw what you feel” and this is evident in her highly distinctive and individual style.
She began her career as a professional artist in the medium of painting after the demise of Ansett in 2001. At this time her husband gave her a paint brush and five tubes of paint and sent her off to art classes to pursue a life long passion of becoming a successful artist.
Georgina’s work soon became popular and she has secured gallery representation in Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland.
Georgina describes her style as ever evolving and seeks to express in her paintings the joys of love, friendship and happiness with compositions celebrating the simple things in life. Her signature pieces are her works of fascinating and naive figures set against a backdrop of rich colour. Her painting’s possess a dream like quality and are a sensual feast of colour and naivety with a witty view.
“Friendship and motherhood are a constant inspiration which I convey through a sense of tenderness and emotion in my works. My goal as an artist is to bring these qualities together into one experience for the viewer.”
Georgina has exhibited her paintings in several solo and group exhibitions and has paintings in private collections throughout Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, London, France and Parliament House, Canberra.
